Deron McElroy, Chief of Cybersecurity, CISA

Deron McElroy is Chief of Cybersecurity for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Region 6.  He leads a team of Cybersecurity Advisors focused on enhancing our Nation’s cyber resilience.  Deron and his team leverage their certifications and experience to serve as advisory Chief Information Security Officers to multiple public and private sector organizations improve their cybersecurity posture.

As co-founder of the Cybersecurity Advisor Program, he served as Chief of Operations, and was the first DHS Cybersecurity Advisor for the Western United States. Previously, he led the interagency development of the Nation’s cyber incident response policy, and contributed to cybersecurity education and workforce development efforts.  Deron played a primary role in the stand-up of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center and was a key participant in information sharing policy development.

Deron also currently serves as a cybersecurity instructor at the University of Texas San Antonio’s Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security, is the Director of Professional Development for the Information Systems Security Association Alamo Chapter, and is the cofounder and Chief Creative Officer for the Lone Star Cyber Podcast.

Spencer Kindt, Sr. Manager, Data Governance, Privacy & Protection, Optiv

Spencer Kindt specializes in helping organizations design, implement, optimize, assess, and operate privacy and data governance programs. Spencer ensures organizations properly handle high risk data while unlocking the high value associated with this data. He also has experience with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, LGPD, HIPAA).

Spencer has experience providing customized services to organizations ranging from the global Fortune 500 to smaller, privately-owned organizations across a variety of industries.

Michael Daniel, President & CEO, Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA)

Michael Daniel serves as the President & CEO of the Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA), a not-for-profit membership association that enables cyber threat information sharing among cybersecurity organizations.  Prior to CTA, Michael served as US Cybersecurity Coordinator from 2012 to 2017, leading US cybersecurity policy development both domestically and internationally, facilitating US government partnerships with the private sector, and coordinating significant incident response activities.  From 1995 to 2012, Michael worked for the Office of Management and Budget, overseeing funding for the U.S. Intelligence Community.  Michael also works with the private sector Ransomware Task Force, Aspen Cybersecurity Group, the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cybersecurity and the Partnership Against Cybercrime, and other organizations improving cybersecurity in the digital ecosystem.  In his spare time, he enjoys running and martial arts.

Hector Monsegur, Senior Director of Research, Alacrinet

Hector Monsegur is a former blackhat hacker who now serves as the Senior Director of Research for a cyber-risk department. Hector is a prominent public speaker and mentor in the cybersecurity community. During his time as a blackhat, he led multiple hacker groups in targeting foreign governments and federal governments and security companies. Hector is also the co-host of Hacker and the Fed, a hacking and cybersecurity podcast.
