Scott Parker, Sr. Systems Engineer, Proofpoint
ISSA Distinguished Fellow

Scott is an Information Systems Security Association Distinguished Fellow with 30+ years of strategic and tactical information security experience across multiple domains. Scott joined Proofpoint in August 2021 as a Sr Systems Engineer protecting people, data and brand against advanced threats and compliance risks.

Scott will tell the story of a year when cybersecurity jumped from the tech page to the front page and explores user trends from Proofpoint’s unique people-centric lens. A few highlights may include, but are not limited to:

• More than 20 million messages tried to deliver malware linked to eventual ransomware attack.
• Over 80% of businesses are attacked by a compromised supplier account in any given month.
• Attackers attempt over 100,000 telephone-oriented attacks every day.
• SMS-based phishing attempts doubled in the U.S. year over year.
• Managers and executives make up only 10% of users, but almost 50% of the most severe attack risk in our data.

Eddie Contreras, CISO, EVP, Frost Bank
Edward Contreras, EVP and CISO of Frost Bank, has 25 years in risk management experience. His focus spans across both the public and private sectors with a heavy emphasis on financial and payment companies. He has worked numerous global breaches as both an investigator and defender and has lead executives and their companies through some of their most challenging times. During his 22 years in the Army, Edward focused on Cyber Crime from those who fund criminal activity to those who carry out and execute orders on the cyber battlefield. He now joins the San Antonio Cyber community from the Silicon Valley and looks to share his knowledge and learn from others.

Jason Norred, CISSP, CCSP, HCISPP, CISO at Solutions II

Jason Norred is a highly sought-after security practice leader and speaker with 25+ years of experience in enterprise datacenter infrastructure and cybersecurity. Jason’s emphasis is on improving client security posture through an integrated approach to cybersecurity. This encompassing approach includes understanding an organization’s approach to risk management, building, and improving upon their security program to address risk, improve security posture, cyber resiliency, and ultimately improve an organization’s cyber response capabilities. His adept leadership, skill, and numerous certifications within the IT industry provides value to organizations, large and small, in their effort to evaluate security program needs and technology and operationalize existing security investments. In today’s ever-changing security landscape, his belief that a focus on response capabilities, both developing and testing them, is critical for all organizations.
