Speaker: Catarina Kim, Senior Director, Threat Intelligence (Aon)

Title: Global Trends in Cyber Threat Intelligence: Ransomware, Data Theft and COVID-19 Scams

Abstract: Incidents involving ransomware-as-a-service and data theft have increased exponentially during the past eight months, leaving more organizations vulnerable to security risks and reputational concerns. This talk will discuss global trends related to the rise of ransomware and how financially motivated threat actors from Russia, Ukraine and China are using COVID-19 related lures to target companies.

Bio: Catarina Kim is a Senior Director in the Intelligence Group of Aon’s Cyber Solutions (formerly Stroz Friedberg) where she manages the threat intelligence program. In her current role, she provides

advanced analytic services and solutions to clients in diverse industries.

She has over a decade of experience managing complex intelligence and investigations for a major global financial institution and the US Intelligence Community. Her areas of specialization include open-source intelligence, deep and dark web collections, cyber and fraud investigations, and nation-state threat analysis.

Catarina is a recipient of the National Security Education Award, a multi-year fellowship sponsored by the U.S. government. She received a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University. She is fluent in English and Korean with working-level knowledge of Spanish and French.
